What can we know about angels? The Bible reveals to us very little about angelic beings. However, a Jewish literature, 1 Enoch, tells us a lot about the world of angels:
1. Names of angels –good and evil;
2. The hierarchy of angels and their functions;
3. How some angels fell by marrying and procreating with human beings in Genesis 6.
4. The origins of evil spirits; and
5. The manners that fallen angels were punished.
Some Christian teachers have developed doctrine of angels and methods for dealing with territorial spirits in church-planting and mission works from 1 Enoch and other related Jewish literature. But is the information concerning angels in 1 Enoch reliable and trustworthy?
In anticipation of the forthcoming preaching series from the books of Jude, 1 & 2 Epistles of Peter, a short talk on “An Introduction to 1 Enoch” will be conducted on 15 June, 12.30-2.00pm at the Leviticus Room. This session will give hearers an overview of 1 Enoch, explain its relation to the Biblical canon, and appraise its functions in the Jewish story-telling. A proper understanding of what the Scripture actually teaches and does not teach will deter us from being easily bluffed by speakers who promote superstitious or sub-Christian practices that enhances evangelism and church growth.
The session will be delivered in English by Dr. Tan Hock Seng, and interpreted to Mandarin by Pastor Enoch.

为了我们预计的犹大书、彼得前后书的讲道系列，我们将于6月15日1230-2pm在利未室举行“介绍以诺一书”的课程。此课让大家概括认识以诺一书，解释它与圣经的关联，评价它对于犹太叙述文的贡献。正确了解圣经的教导能避免我们被增进迷信、伪基督教习俗的讲员所迷惑。
